Overview
Escape into the Sahara on this 3-day journey from Marrakech to the remote Chegaga dunes. Cross the High Atlas Mountains, explore ancient kasbahs, ride camels into the sunset, and spend a night under the stars in a desert camp.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Departure early morning from Marrakech.
Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m).
Visit Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous movie location.
Continue to Ouarzazate, the "Hollywood of Africa," and then drive to Zagora via Draa Valley, with its lush palm groves and traditional villages.
Dinner and overnight in a traditional riad or hotel in Zagora.
Day 2
Early breakfast, then continue south through the desert plains to M'Hamid, the last village before the dunes.
Board camels for a ride into the Chegaga Desert, witnessing the sunset over endless golden dunes.
Enjoy traditional Berber dinner around the campfire, stargazing, and overnight stay in a desert camp.
Experience the magic of sleeping under a star-filled sky in the heart of the Sahara.
Day 3
Wake up early for a spectacular sunrise over the dunes.
Return by camel to M'Hamid village for breakfast and a short rest.
Drive back through Draa Valley, visiting kasbahs and palm groves.
Cross the High Atlas Mountains again to reach Marrakech in the evening.
